language agnostic - How to interpret unprintable characters in the timestamp sent by the Lotus Notes POP3 server? -

I wrote a program to recover mail from POP3 server. 

  + Ok Lotus Notes POP3 server version X2. One of its users has to face the following problem ...  
 Greeting continues when its mail server connects to my program:  
  0 ready & Lt; Printable Chater Shoppers with Unacceptable & gt;  
 
 Participation in the angle bracket for APP authorization is a so-called challenge. The challenge (and all other strings in the POP3 protocol) are usually only ASCII characters. But this time the challenge is made up of two parts - the other has non-printable characters. The pattern is low: first 0x5, then some non-ASCII characters. Looks like this. 
 
 When I remove the challenge and use it for APOP authentication the server declines. 
 
 After reading carefully, I can get it at LMBSC. 0x5 is a prefix to a so-called signal. Each character is actually a Win-1251 character but is prepared by 0x5. 
 
 With this, I just leave all the legal ASCII and non-printable Win-1251 and only the general APOP authentication algorithm. However the server has declined. 
 
 Is this the correct way to decode L-MBSC with Win-1251 characters or is this a problem on the server? 
 
 
 
 
 I checked some domino servers (7.x, 8.x) and the server in the server greeting Timestamp not found. Then I went to Gogal and found: 
 
 It seems that Domino POP server does not support APOP, but before version 6.5.5, the version presents a timestamp anyway.
