Date formatting from SQLite query -

I am trying to drag and format timestamps from my SQLIT DB. In my reading, it seems that the SQLite formatting is very limited in comparison to the date format conversion available for PHP. I get this query from javascript:

SELECT strftime ('% m% d,% Y', timestamp) savedate

and it gives I am trying to get it back:

03 03, 2009

March 3, 2009

Any suggestions?

Unfortunately, SQLite. You must use it for a month's name either a lookup table, a case statement, or a switch at the presentation level.
