operating system - What is the Best Windows Development OS -

I am creating a DEV image and currently using Windows XP Pro x64 as my O / S Is there a reason to use a server o / s as a developer operating system or is it still the best option for XP?

XP only allows you to host a web site in IIS. Very annoying. I recommend Windows Server 2003, 2008 or Windows 7.

It is good to use a server version as close to your live environment. It is good to use 2008 / Win7 / Vista as they have IIS 7. It's a good idea to use Win7 better than others.

The workstation operating system (XP, Vista, Win 7) has hard-coded limitations on thread / connection simultaneously, which means that you can not properly load the test locally. This is a low issue on the IIS7 box because they request queue instead of failing them.

64 bit OS is spoken a little - eg. I can not edit my host file with Notepad because it is stored in 32 bit directory and notepad is 64 bit. I had to find google to fix this bug and find Other problems can arise if you go 64 bits, but increased memory capacity is attractive.

You should be able to make decisions based on these factors.
